Man Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Murder of Young Father in Glen Burnie Apartment Complex

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND – A 20-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for the murder of a young father at a Glen Burnie apartment complex last spring, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess announced.

The Honorable Stacy McCormack sentenced Dominic Micah Taylor to Life in Prison, with all but 40 years suspended. He will be placed on five years of supervised probation upon release.

“I hope that this sentence brings justice and some peace for the family of the victim, Brandon Williams, and shows senseless gun violence will not be tolerated in our community,” Leitess said.

On April 13, 2023, just after 12:30 p.m., Anne Arundel County police and paramedics were called to the Glen Mar Apartment Homes complex for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, first responders found Brandon D’Carlos Williams, 26, on the ground suffering from numerous gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation revealed Mr. Williams was walking to meet a friend when a man, later identified as Taylor, stepped out from behind a set of dumpsters and shot Mr. Williams nine times. Following the shooting, witnesses reported seeing Taylor, wearing a mask and dark clothing, run to the surrounding wooded area.

Security footage showed Taylor purchasing items at a nearby convenience store 11 minutes before the shooting. Cell phone location data showed him briefly returning to his home in the apartment complex before hunting down the victim and ultimately shooting him behind the dumpsters. Upon arrest, Taylor admitted to the shooting, but claimed he had heard rumors that the victim wanted to harm him and so he acted first.

On February 15, 2024, Taylor entered a guilty plea to First-Degree Murder in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in Annapolis.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Katherine Anthony on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
