Annapolis, MD (March 12, 2020) - The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities announces that the eight senior activity center buildings will close for an indefinite period of time at the close of business today. The decision was made in consideration of the health of the county's older adults and possible implications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, in consultation with the Anne Arundel County Administration and Anne Arundel County Department of Health Officer.
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, all Nutrition Program participants will begin receiving meals that can easily be prepared and eaten at home.
The department is working with leadership from Anne Arundel Community College to evaluate current and future programming and more information will be forthcoming. In addition, the department is working with AARP officials to identify alternative tax preparation sites.
Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities' staff will be routinely monitoring all program participants, by phone, throughout the department including our senior activity center members and Nutrition Program participants.
"The health and safety of residents, staff, and volunteers is always our priority," said Pam Jordan, Director of the Department of Aging and Disabilities. "The department shares the public's concern about this issue and will continue to align our policies and procedures with the latest recommended preventative measures."
