Annapolis, MD (November 1, 2022) - On November 17th at 6:30 pm, Mary Chaput will present “Communication Strategies for Dementia: How Do I Talk to You? How do I Listen?” Communication is more than words; it’s also about body language, facial expression, and tone of voice. As a dementia progresses, the individual loses their ability to use and understand
words, and caregivers need to find a new way to connect. This workshop will identify some simple tools to help you maintain these connections. This workshop will be held at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center (119 S. Villa Avenue, Annapolis). On November 9th, at 6:30 pm, an in-person Dementia Live® workshop will be held at the North County/Hein Office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie). The Dementia Live® workshop is a high-impact dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory changes. The workshops are presented at no cost to the public by the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.
