The Department of Aging and Disabilities Announces Two September Caregiver Educational Workshops

Annapolis, MD (August 5, 2022) The Department of Aging and Disabilities is pleased to announce two upcoming Caregiver Educational Workshops for September 2022. On Thursday, September 15th at 6:30 pm, Mary Chaput will present “Dementia: It’s Not Just Memory Loss.” Dementia is a devastating illness that is more than just memory loss. It is a degenerative disease that impacts an individual’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. This session will delve into the 5 A’s of dementia: Absence of Executive Function, Amnesia, Aphasia, Agnosia, and Apraxia and the impact they have on the individual and their caregivers. This workshop will be held at the North County/Hein Office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie). You can register for this workshop online at http://www.aacounty.org/aging or call 410-222-4375 or 410-222-4339. 

On Thursday, September 22nd, at 6:30 pm, an in-person Dementia Live® workshop will be held at the North County/Hein Office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie). The Dementia Live® workshop is a high-impact dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory changes. The workshops are presented at no cost to the public by the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.
