The Department of Aging and Disabilities Announces Caregiver Support Groups for May

Annapolis, MD (April 11, 2022) - The Department of Aging and Disabilities is pleased to announce several upcoming Caregiver Educational Workshops for May 2022.

On May 11th at 6:30 pm, Joanna Frankel, MSW, LCSW-C, will present “To Travel or Not to Travel: 10 Tips for Vacations and Family Trips When You Are a Caregiver.” Traveling with someone you love who needs care is not impossible, but it takes a lot of pre-planning. Join us for this interactive program where you will learn how to determine if your loved one is up to taking a trip, how to best prepare for a trip, and how to balance safety fun on a vacation. This workshop will be held at the Pascal Senior Activity Center (125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie). You can register for this workshop online at http://www.aacounty.org/aging or call 410-222-4375/4339.

On May 4th at 2:00 pm, an in-person Dementia Live® workshop will be held at the North County/Hein Office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie). On May 5th at 6:30 pm, Mary Chaput, Family Caregiver Support Program Director, will facilitate the Virtual Dementia Live® Program via the Zoom platform. The Dementia Live workshop is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory changes. Space is limited. You can register for either of these workshops by calling 410-222-4375/4339.

The workshops are presented at no cost to the public by the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.

Anyone needing accommodations must contact Mary Chaput at 410-222-4339, or by e-mail at agchap01@aacounty.org at least seven days in advance of the event. TTY users, please call via Maryland Relay 7-1-1. All materials are available in an alternative format upon request.
