Annapolis, Md (February 12, 2021) The Anne Arundel County Council is accepting applications for residents to voluntarily serve on a Charter Revision Commission. The Charter Review Commission is an independent body responsible for making recommendations to the County Council regarding Councilmanic redistricting and revisions to the County Charter. The Charter is the constitution for Anne Arundel County.
The Commission will consist of 7 representative citizens of the County, with each member of the County Council making one appointment. The Commission will report its findings and recommendations to the County Council within 12 months after the appointment.
Serving on this Commission will require attending regularly scheduled meetings that are open to the public, working with Council staff and staff from other County departments, and providing regular reports to the Council on the progress of work. If you are an Anne Arundel County resident and you want to serve on the Commission, you should complete the application and conflict of interest disclosure form found on the Charter Revision Commission webpage (www.aacounty.org/charterrevision) and submit these documents along with your resume to kschultze@aacounty.org.
The County Council plans to appoint the Charter Revision Commission in early May 2021.
