Annapolis, MD (March 13, 2020) AT THE PRESENT TIME the County Council Meeting scheduled for 7:00, Monday, March 16 will be held as scheduled. Please remember that the situation regarding the COVID-19 virus is fluid and subject to change at any time. The County Executive has now issued a State of Emergency https://www.aacounty.org/departments/county-executive/executive-orders/steuart-pittman/SP-16.pdf We recommend monitoring the County Website and Anne Arundel County TV Cable Stations for updates on the upcoming March 16 Council Meeting.
The County Council needs to move forward with important County business and we will be doing everything we can to minimize the risk to residents. We are obligated to keep Council Meetings open to the public and are strongly encouraging you take advantage of one of the following methods of participation in lieu of physical attendance:
Council Meetings may be viewed live. On Cable TV - Channel 98 for Verizon and Broadstripe and Channel 38 for Comcast and can be watched via live stream on Arundel TV Live (aacounty.org) or by clicking here - http://aac.cablecast.tv/cablecastapi/live?channel_id=1&use_cdn=true
Reach Out. Reach out to your Councilperson to express your view on a piece of legislation. The Councilmembers email addresses are available on the Council Website - https://www.aacounty.org/departments/county-council/councilmembers/
Written Testimony. Best option. Please submit written testimony to the Council by emailing it to jgray@aacounty.org. Written testimony received before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16 will allow the individual’s name and stance – support or opposition, to be stated at the meeting and ensures the Councilmembers have time to review the testimony. Testimony can be received over the weekend and will be forwarded to the Councilmembers upon receipt.
In Person Testimony – If you must attend, please know that there will be NO in-person sign ups prior to the meeting. If you are planning on attending and testifying in person please call 410-222-1401 or email jgray@aacounty.org and provide your name, phone number, address and what you wish to testify on (Bill Number/Invitation to audience) before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16. Messages will be checked over the weekend.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Council Chambers seating will be extremely limited. We will only be allowing approximately 15 to 20 people in the Chambers at a given time. In the Chambers or in the lobby, it is up to attendees to be responsible and practice safe social distancing. Again, we strongly urge providing written testimony in lieu of attendance. If you are ill, or in a high risk group, please avoid attending.
Please help us to continue to move forward with County business in the safest manner possible.
