BGE plans to upgrade the aging, underground natural gas mains in and throughout our service area to continue delivering natural gas safely and reliably (see map of Benfield Road Project).
BGE authorized contractor Ligon and Ligon will be replacing the gas mains in the street and
connecting customers’ properties to the new gas system. This will require excavating the roads to
access the existing gas mains, necessitating temporary lane closures and possibly metal plates to cover
the excavations during off-hours. You may experience construction noise from equipment, dust, and
debris in the roadway, and possibly traffic delays. We appreciate your patience and will work to
minimize the disturbance to the community.
