Jumpers Hole Rd Improvements Benfield Rd to Kinder Rd

Project Background:

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works is conducting a project to improve conditions for all transportation users along Jumpers Hole Road from Benfield Road to Kinder Road. The goal is to redesign the roadway to reduce crash risk for all users and improve mobility and accessibility for pedestrians and bicyclists in alignment with the County's Complete Streets policies and strategies. Key elements of the project include:

  • Narrowed vehicular through lanes
  • New left- and/or right-turn lanes at several intersections
  • Additional designated crossings for pedestrians to cross Jumpers Hole Road
  • 10-foot-wide shared-use path along the SB side of Jumpers Hole Road
  • 5-foot-wide sidewalk along the NB side of Jumpers Hole Road
  • Changes to vertical alignment between Retford Drive and Yorkshire Drive
  • Periodic raised medians
  • Periodic center two-way left-turn lanes
  • Upgraded signs, pavement markings, and lighting
  • Stormwater management improvements
  • 10-foot-wide shared use path along the north side of Kinder Road from Jumpers Hole Road to Kinder Farm Park.

This project is in the Design Development phase, which is expected to be completed in summer 2023.
