Lower Mill Creek Restoration (Virtual) Public Meeting Aug. 5, 2020 6:00 PM

mill creek restoration

To meet the requirements of the NPDES MS4 permit, the County has identified a section of Lower Mill Creek as an ideal candidate for restoration. The project consists restoring 2,231 linear feet (Phase 1) and 1,343 linear feet (Phase 2) of stream located north of College Parkway both upstream and downstream of Jones Station Road and southeast of Magothy River Middle School. In its existing condition, this sections of Lower Mill Creek is highly eroded making it a source of nutrient and sediment loads to the Magothy River. The primary goals of this project are to minimize bank erosion, provide vertical and lateral stability within the stream channel, and to restore the valley wide floodplain. Ultimately, this project will provide improved water quality to the Magothy River and the Chesapeake Bay.
