(pre-conference Newly Elected Officials Orientation
for new county officials on January 3)
Every four years, after an election, MACo holds its Winter Conference in January to give newly elected officials time to get sworn in and plan to join us. More than 1,000 leaders from all levels of government and the private sector will gather for this event as we begin a new four-year term in Maryland. This conference will deliver county government fundamentals, along with deep dives on the important issues coming up in the 2023 legislative session. Relationship-building among newly elected officials at the county, state, and legislative levels will also be a timely focus as all levels of government in Maryland prepare to hit the ground running with new and veteran officials as we begin the first year of the new four-year term.
About the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo):
The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) is the non-profit, non-partisan voice of all 24 Maryland counties, promoting effective, efficient government through advocacy, education, and collaboration. The Association’s membership consists of county elected officials and representatives from Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City. MACo’s members determine Association policy and positions on executive and legislative proposals through an elected Board of Directors and a Legislative Committee. Through MACo’s advocacy, training, educational programs, and annual conferences, members are provided with endless opportunities to improve their capacity to serve their residents.
