Annapolis, MD (October 10, 2024) – Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman today announced the release of the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Draft Master Plan, which can be found here. The plan defines a comprehensive vision for the future development of the historic Crownsville site, ensuring that any future improvements are thoughtful, supportable, and appropriate to the area. The master plan is a result of extensive public input and aims to establish a community-driven outcome for the future of the site.
The County will continue to seek feedback from residents and stakeholders as the master plan moves toward finalization. During the 45-day review period from October 10, 2024, to November 24, 2024, the public can send feedback to Crownsville-Park-Comments@aacounty.org.
“This plan is brilliant,” said County Executive Pittman. “It takes the visions expressed by hundreds of residents and integrates them into the campus in a way that will deliver the experience of remembrance, of peace, and of healing that this county and this country are craving.”
The purpose of the master plan is to guide future development at Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park, addressing various critical aspects such as land use, building programming, multi-modal connectivity, open space, traffic, and art installations. The framework it establishes ensures that future projects align with the community’s values and the historical integrity of the site. The final plan will be published in late 2024 or early 2025.
The master plan report includes a summary of the project’s objectives, an existing conditions analysis, public outreach efforts, and detailed recommendations. It outlines future conditions and provides a blueprint for implementing improvements that respect both the past and future needs of the site. Key highlights of the plan include:
