Annapolis, MD (March 21, 2025) – On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC), in partnership with County Executive Steuart Pittman, hosted a hiring event in response to recent federal layoffs.
The hiring event connected former and current federal government workers with job opportunities at county and state agencies, private sector businesses, and resources to assist them in their career transition. The event featured over 50 different employers, and saw almost 400 attendees, demonstrating the clear need to help our federal workforce find new opportunities.
“Our AAWDC team did an outstanding job of bringing our talented federal workers together with local employers,” said County Executive Pittman. “As our federal workers deal with uncertainty and mass layoffs led by the Trump administration, Anne Arundel County is committed to supporting those who have served our nation.”
“Being able to be in the community and see the positive impact our work has on people is extremely rewarding,“ said Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation President and CEO Kirkland J. Murray. “I look forward to continuing to foster and nurture our relationship with Anne Arundel County and provide the necessary resources and support to federal employees so they can continue to thrive in their careers.”
Beginning in April, AAWDC will be holding a five-part workshop series to help federal employees confidently navigate their next career move.
