Nonprofits received between $10,000 and $50,000 in grant funds for programs impacted by COVID-19 and addressing critical needs identified in CFAAC’s 2022 Community Needs Assessment Report Poverty Amidst Plenty VII: Moving Forward Together
Annapolis, MD (February 28, 2023) Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman and the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) presented a check to 42 nonprofit organizations awarded grants between $10,000 and $50,000 for programs that address critical needs identified in CFAAC’s 2022 Community Needs Assessment Report Poverty Amidst Plenty VII: Moving Forward Together during an event held at Maryland Hall.
“Anne Arundel County has a robust network of local nonprofit organizations providing services to our residents,” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “This partnership with the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County makes it possible for county government to effectively build their capacity.”
Grants were supported by $1 million in Federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding awarded by the Pittman administration. A CFAAC Grants Selection Committee worked to review applications submitted by nonprofits that offered solutions to the needs and gaps in services identified in the Needs Assessment, and who sustained a loss of income/revenue and/or an increase of programming or expenses due to COVID-19’s impact on their operations and the communities they serve. “Our Grant Selection Committee worked tirelessly to read applications submitted by a large number of nonprofits who applied. During this process, the committee learned about the nonprofits’ programs and services and worked to make funding decisions to support organizations whose requests most closely aligned with the goals of this round of funding. The needs in our community are many and our team of grant reviewers did their best to fund a wide variety of programs serving all corners of our county,” said Mary Spencer CFAAC President & CEO. “We know that this funding is essential to our local nonprofits so they can, in turn, provide more comprehensive services and programs and be in a better place to serve our community.”
The funding also aids nonprofits whose goals provide solutions aligned with youth development; mental health and substance abuse; economy; health; and equity, diversity, and inclusion. Funds are to be used between February 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
Since 2020, CFAAC’s Community Crisis Response Fund has awarded 327 rapid response grants totaling $2,729,692 to 150 unique nonprofits to support programs that provide food security, support for basic human needs, and assistance with housing insecurity and homelessness.
