County Executive Pittman Issues Statement Encouraging Residents to Exercise Their Civic Duty

Annapolis, MD (Nov. 7, 2022) Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman issued the following statement encouraging residents to exercise their civic duty:

“Election Day is tomorrow, and residents from across the county will visit polling sites and ballot drop boxes to exercise one of the most fundamental rights afforded by our democracy - the right to vote.

We should not ignore the fact that historically the right to vote for many people was hard won, but we should celebrate the progress we have made, and ensure that those who fought for that right did not do so in vain.

While the future is heavy on the minds of many voters and political discourse casts doubt on the integrity of the voting process, I want to assure you that in our county your vote matters.

I want to thank the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections employees and residents who served as election judges and poll workers during early voting and will continue to demonstrate their devotion to a fair and accessible election in the weeks to come. Be kind to them as many confront angst and fear to ensure your vote counts.

I want to thank you if you have already cast your vote and encourage those who will exercise their civic duty tomorrow to be patient and kind to your neighbors as they do the same.

Polling locations are open on election day from 7:00am and will serve the last voter in line by 8:00pm. Mail-in ballots must be placed in a drop box by tomorrow at 8:00pm. To locate your polling site or a ballot drop box visit www.aacounty.org/vote.”
