Overview
Magothy Greenway Natural Area is a 369 acre natural area in Lake Shore, just north of the Magothy River. Approximately 4 miles of natural surface trails are open to hikers, equestrians, and pets on leashes.
The woodlands and wetlands of the Magothy Greenway Natural Area are forever preserved and protected through a conservation easement with the Maryland Environmental Trust and the Magothy River Land Trust.

Gate Access Request Form for Magothy Greenway Natural Area
The entrance to Magothy Greenway Natural Area at Loopers Field is the southern parking lot which is gated with a combination lock. Please adhere to all rules and regulations pertaining to equestrian use while in the parks and on the trails.
The combination lock must be secured immediately upon entering and leaving the park.
Instructions for Operating the Combination Lock and Gate
- Note orientation of numbers.
- Once combination is entered correctly push in on lock mechanism and then pull down.
- Lock should then open.
- Open gate and drive through.
- Close gate and return lock to original position.
- Scramble the numbers off of the code in order to engage lock.
- Lock the gate.
Park Rules
- Park is open from 7am to Sunset.
- Alcoholic beverages, weapons, hunting, fireworks, metal detecting and littering are prohibited.
- Vehicles are allowed in designated parking areas only and may not park overnight.
- Storage of commercial vehicles/equipment is prohibited.
- Pets must be under the control of their owners, on a leash at all times, and their waste disposed of properly.
- Off road vehicles, dirt bikes, and similar types of vehicles are prohibited.
- Interfering with, removing or disturbing wildlife and natural resources is prohibited.
