On May 3, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers heard multiple gunshots in the area of Stillmeadows Road and Averill Court in Severn. Officers located a residence in the 8200 block of Averill Court, where officers determined a shooting occurred. A two-year-old female was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Officers rendered medical aid to the child until she was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The child was discharged from the hospital on May 4, 2024. There is no suspect information at this time. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155. Pedestrian-Related Crash - Severna Park

On May 5, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to Jumpers Hole Road at Sylvan Avenue for a crash involving a bicyclist. The investigation revealed that a 2013 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Jumpers Hole Road near Sylvan Avenue when a juvenile bicyclist crossed eastbound in front of the Honda and was struck. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department transported the bicyclist to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Robbery (Commercial) - Glen Burnie

Detectives assigned to the Regional Crimes Unit are investigating the May 3rd robbery of the Tobacco Ace located at 7300 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. At approximately 9:50 p.m., a black male suspect wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt entered the store, implied he had a handgun, threatened the employee, and demanded money from the register. The employee complied, and the suspect fled. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

CDS; Weapons Violation - Brooklyn

On May 5, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a gray Toyota in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn. During the traffic stop, the officer recovered a loaded .38 caliber handgun and 232 capsules containing suspected heroin/fentanyl. The driver was arrested and charged.

First Degree Assault (Stabbing) - Annapolis

On May 6, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to an assault at the Vibe nightclub located at 2072 Somerville Road in Annapolis. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old male suffering from apparent stab wounds. The investigation revealed that the victims were injured during a fight involving several individuals. Both victims were transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries to their torsos. No suspect information is available at this time. Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash - Jessup

On May 6, 2024, at approximately 12:55 a.m., a patrol officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of Annapolis Road and Reece Road in Severn and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled from the officer, and the officer deactivated their patrol vehicle's emergency equipment and did not pursue the vehicle. Minutes later, a 911 caller reported a crash on Jessup Road near Oak Ridge Road in Jessup. Members of the Traffic Safety Section responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The investigation revealed a Lexus IS 350 was traveling westbound on Jessup Road at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, and the vehicle left the roadway and struck a vacant home on the eastbound side of Jessup Road. The driver and four passengers were transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. A fifth passenger was transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center with serious injuries. One of the passengers was later pronounced deceased at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
