Homicide Investigation - Severn

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 8000 block of Marlton Court in Severn. Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting person, who located the victim in a wooded area at the end of Marlton Court. The victim, 40-year-old Anthony Lee Brown of Glen Burnie, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The victim's remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle for a report of a robbery. The 34-year-old male victim was approached in the parking lot of the Costco by a mid-30s Asian male suspect who asked for money. The victim consented to provide funds to the suspect. The suspect forcefully took money from the victim, leading to a brief struggle that resulted in minor injuries to the victim. On September 13, 2024 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police responded to 7000 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover for a report of a shooting just occurred. Officers assigned to the Arundel Mills Entertainment district arrived within two minutes of the initial call and were directed to the rear parking lot nearest the movie theater complex. Officers quickly located an unknown adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso and immediately began life saving measures. Anne Arundel County Fire personnel arrived soon after and continued on scene medical treatment. The victim was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and was pronounced deceased while in transport. The victim has not been positively identified at this time. Preliminary investigation by Anne Arundel County Police Homicide detectives reveals the incident appears to be a targeted event. This investigation is active and on-going. The victim in this case has been identified as 31-year old Yant Junior Gomez of Harlem, New York.
