DESCRIPTION: The Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County is seeking to hire a Guardianship Case Manager. The Guardianship Case Manager assists in managing and reviewing guardianship cases, monitoring from initial case filing to termination. The Guardianship Case Manager works closely with the Guardianship Coordinating Judge to ensure that cases are efficiently and effectively processed through the court to appropriate disposition. The Guardianship Case Manager works for the Judicial branch of the government and is funded by the Juvenile and Family Services Grant through the Maryland Judiciary. This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Court Operations with general oversight provided by the
Court Administrator, Administrative Judge, and Guardianship Coordinating Judge.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE: The Guardianship Case Manager works with the Trust Supervisor and Trust Department, attorneys, parties, and the bench to review, monitor, and schedule guardianship cases to manage case flow; reviews cases for compliance with the Maryland laws; reviews motions and makes recommendations to judges; drafts appropriate orders; maintains
follow-up calendars; assists court personnel with questions on court processes/statutes/case law; reviews inventory of guardianship cases; and performs other duties as assigned. This position serves as a resource for members of the bench, litigants, attorneys, community agencies, and stakeholders. The Guardianship Case Manager compiles quarterly statistical data for reporting to the Maryland Judiciary and additional reports as required by the grant and court.
REQUIRED: Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and aptitude for learning databases. Excellent organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Ability to simultaneously perform and prioritize multiple tasks, with minimal supervision, and make independent decisions based on experience, good judgment, and established court policies and procedures. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
including time management, workload prioritization, and record-keeping accuracy. Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, tact, diplomacy, and competence in dealing with judges, attorneys, court personnel, and the public. Experience in guardianship law and strong legal research and writing skills are desired.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The Guardianship Case Manager is a full-time position funded by the Maryland Judiciary’s Juvenile and Family Services Grant. This is a county grade 15 position and includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement benefits. The starting salary is $57,876 - $65,000 and is commensurate with relevant job and court experience.
