Funding allocated to drive economic growth and combat child poverty
Brooklyn Park, MD (January 23, 2025) – Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman and the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families today launched the Track 2 ENOUGH Grant Program in Brooklyn Park as part of Governor Wes Moore’s ENOUGH Act Initiative. This funding will support the development of a comprehensive plan to address child poverty and increase economic mobility in Brooklyn Park, building on the Partnerships’s ongoing Communities of Hope efforts.
“As a longtime community organizer, I am thrilled that Governor Moore’s team has selected Brooklyn Park in Anne Arundel County to demonstrate that the ENOUGH act is effective public policy,” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “Engaging community organizations in an effort to end childhood poverty is the best economic development tool that government can deploy. Let’s get started.”
In addition to the $300,000 Track 2 award for Brooklyn Park, One Annapolis received a $65,000 Track 1 ENOUGH Program Grant to advance partnership development in Bay Ridge Gardens, Annapolis. The Partnership was also awarded a capacity-building grant from the Governor’s Office for Children, enabling $50,000 grants to three additional ENOUGH Act applicants to continue their efforts:
- Kingdom Kare, Maryland City, West County
- Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency, Eastport Terrace, Annapolis
- Charting Careers, Clay Street, Annapolis
The Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families will serve as the Community Quarterback in Brooklyn Park and will provide technical support to all ENOUGH Act partners throughout the year to strengthen their efforts and position Anne Arundel County for future funding opportunities in 2025-2026.
“We are delighted to support Governor Moore’s ENOUGH Initiative,” said Pamela Brown Executive Director of the Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families. “We believe strongly that working together with residents, in our areas of highest need, is the right way to make lasting and positive change for our children and families.”
The ENOUGH Act is a multiyear, place-based initiative designed to reduce childhood poverty and increase economic mobility in Maryland’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Now in its first year, the initiative prioritizes collaboration over competition, requiring the braiding and blending of funds and ensuring that residents of targeted neighborhoods have leadership roles at the table.
