Fatal Traffic Crash – Severn

On April 21, 2025, at approximately 5:04 p.m., Western District officers responded to Telegraph Road at Norcross Lane in Severn for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a Ford Expedition and a Lexus RX. Upon arrival, officers observed both vehicles with significant front-end damage from a head-on collision. Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel responded and extricated both drivers from their vehicles. The driver of the Lexus was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford Expedition was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma, where she is listed in critical but stable condition. Three children, passengers in the Ford Expedition, were transported by ground to Johns Hopkins Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Traffic Safety Section’s Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.

Northern District

Shots Fired / Weapon Violation – Brooklyn Park

On April 22, 2025, at approximately 12:26 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Edgevale Road West for a report of a male firing a rifle into the air behind a residence. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the occupants, who reluctantly exited the residence after an extended period and were detained. The occupants included two adult males, two adult females, and two juveniles. Patrol officers secured the residence while detectives from the District Detective Unit obtained a search warrant. A search of the home resulted in the recovery of a black 12-gauge pistol grip shotgun, one spent shotgun shell, and eighteen additional shotgun shells. The suspect, who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was arrested and charged accordingly.
