While I do not navigate Benfield nearly as much as residents who reside off of Benfield, I know the manhole locations by heart, as navigating around them has been necessary.

I reached out to the Department of Public Works (DPW) for an update and reason behind the length of time it is taking for this project's completion.

DPW shared that this is a large-scale project of over 2 miles in length. Work has been delayed over the last several weeks due to the heavy rains that saturate the surfaces. All milling of mainline and all side street tie-ins are now complete, as well as all patching and utility adjustments. Final surface paving is now underway.

They intended to complete all work prior to schools reopening but now anticipate that work may extend into the first or second week of September, weather dependent. Paving is being performed at night to minimize the impact to traffic.

My thanks to the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Management Division for this update.
