The Broadneck Peninsula Trail is a hiker-biker trail that will ultimately connect the B & A Trail to Sandy Point State Park with a spur to Bay Head Park. The Trail will cover 9 miles mostly along College Parkway.
One of the most exciting things about this phase starting, is that the design and construction will be different from what Broadneck area residents witnessed with Phase II. During that construction period, many residents, myself included, were shocked by the massive clearing of trees to access steep slopes and build up the grading in order to meet ADA compliance.
I immediately reached out to the department and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to express the sentiment of the community.
It was your collective voice, and your trust that I would make sure you were heard, that has led to a more tree friendly design for phase III, using boardwalks instead a large grading effort.
Mr. Edgar Parker has been an enormous part of the Broadneck Trail plans, personally funding the beautiful rest area at Peninsula Farm Rd and near the Broadneck Library. He and his late wife Jean are leaving a legacy for generations to come.
