I had the privilege of presenting the Officer of the Year, Sergeant of the Year and Detective of the Year citation, alongside my colleagues who also represent Eastern District communities. Last night was also the first in person Eastern District Police Community Relations Council meeting, in months.
I was not at all surprised that Officer Nick Conforti was named Officer of the Year. I spent an entire evening shift with him in 2019. It was an experience I talk about frequently and gave me an entirely new appreciation for what our county law enforcement does each day they serve and protect.
I encourage any resident to take advantage of experiencing this first hand.
Sergeant Matthew Ploor was the recipient of the Sergeant of the Year Citation. I was able to personally thank him for his work on a very complex case in Severna Park, that restored a safe and quiet calm to the community.
Finally, Detective Michael Mulford received the citation for Detective of the Year. His contribution to our county is decades long and he will be retiring in just a few short months.
The Eastern District Police Community Relations Council also heard from our new Chief of Police, Amal Awad.
I encourage all residents of the 5th District to attend these meetings and get to know the fine men and women who are your Eastern District Police. (RSVP is currently required due to capacity restrictions)
