ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After just two hours of deliberations, an Anne Arundel County jury found Terence A. Green Jr. guilty of two counts each of second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense of a 14-year-old girl at his Brooklyn Park home, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess announced.
The verdict followed a two-day trial that began Tuesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. Green faces more than 40 years in prison at sentencing, scheduled for April 18, 2023.
“Justice is served in this appalling case in large part due to this young victim, who though afraid, found the courage to confide in an adult about what happened to her,” Leitess said. “Her bravery of coming forward led to a successful conviction and brings an end to any future abuse.
“As parents and caregivers, we must make our children feel comfortable to confide in an adult when something isn’t right.”
On August 18, 2021, the then 14-year-old victim and a parent reported to police she was raped by Green, who was 27 years old at the time, at his residence the previous month. During an interview, the victim disclosed that she was at Green’s home with a family friend when Green invited her to his basement to show her something. Once downstairs, Green forced the girl to perform sex acts before forcing himself on her. The girl said she told Green to stop, but he refused. The family friend confirmed to police that the girl and Green were in the basement alone for a period of time on that date. She also said she scolded Green when she caught him looking at the victim in a sexual manner as they left his residence.
Green remains held without bond.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Anastasia Prigge on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County, with the Honorable Cathleen M. Vitale presiding.
