Fatal Crash - Odenton

On January 16, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to southbound Crain Highway at St. Stephen’s Church Road in Odenton for a single-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed a 2015 Honda Accord Sport was traveling southbound on Crain Highway approaching St. Stephen’s Church Road when for yet-to-be-determined reasons, the vehicle left the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel.
  
This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Home Invasion - Brooklyn

On January 15, 2023, just after midnight, officers responded for a report of an armed subject with a gun in the unit block of Bon Air Avenue in Brooklyn. Upon arrival, officers learned that a black male suspect forced his way into the residence and was armed with two semi-automatic handguns. The suspect physically assaulted one of the victims and demanded property from them. The suspect fled the residence and entered a white coupe or sedan and drove away. Suspect: black male, approximately 6’-00”, 200lbs, armed with black semi-automatic handguns.

Shooting (Contact) - Brooklyn Park

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a shooting that just occurred in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway and 11th Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Investigation revealed the victim was standing amongst a group of people near a business in the area when an unknown subject wearing all dark clothing shot in the direction of the victim numerous times. The victim was struck one time in the lower extremity, and the victim’s dog was also struck once in the leg. Aside from the victim and canine, two nearby parked vehicles were also struck by projectiles. The victim and canine were transported to an area hospital/emergency veterinarian (respectively) with non-life-threatening injuries. Suspect: Unknown race, unknown gender, last seen wearing a gray jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, black pants, armed with an unknown firearm. 


 

Eastern District
Shooting (Non-contact) - Severna Park

On January 13, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m. officers responded for a report of a shooting that occurred earlier in the 200 block of Saint Ives Drive in Severna Park. Upon arrival, officers learned that the homeowner heard “loud booms” between 5:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m., while he and the other occupants were asleep. The homeowner awoke to find a projectile lodged in a picture frame on a wall near his bedroom. Officers located two holes in the front door of the residence, one of which was believed to be from the projectile found in the picture frame, the second appeared to have passed completely through the residence and exited through a back wall. Officers would later discover a third impact sight on the brick exterior of the residence. There were no physical injuries reported and no other residents came forward to report that their homes were targeted. Shooting (Contact) - Glen Burnie

On January 14, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to an area hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting victim. The victim had a single, non-life-threatening, gunshot wound. A check of the victim's residence and surrounding area was negative for any evidence of a shooting or crime scene. Through investigative means, detectives would later learn that the shooting occurred outside of Anne Arundel County. The appropriate jurisdiction was contacted and assumed the investigation. 


 

Western District
Shooting (Non-Contact) - Laurel

On January 13, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m. officers responded for a report of a shooting that just occurred in the 3500 block of Spring Road in Laurel. Upon arrival, officers learned that four male subjects were involved in a verbal argument and at some point one of the male subjects produced a handgun and fired a single round at the victim. Three of the four male subjects including the shooting suspect entered an SUV and fled the scene. The victim also entered a dark-colored sedan and left the area prior to officers' arrival. Officers learned that the intended victim was not struck by the projectile, nor was any property damage observed. The SUV that the suspect fled in returned to the scene while officers were conducting their investigation. The suspect was no longer in the vehicle. Weapons Violation - Odenton

On January 16, 2023 at approximately 2:00 a.m. officers were on routine patrol when they observed a suspicious vehicle in the 1500 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton. When officers approached the vehicle they observed suspected marijuana inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. As officers made contact with the passenger they observed a black semi-automatic handgun in plain view on the passengers lap. During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers went on to locate approximately 214g of suspected marijuana. The passenger was arrested and charged accordingly.

Suspicious Subject - Riva

On January 13, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded for a report of a suspicious subject in the area of Riva Road and Forest Road in Riva. Upon arrival, officers learned that two juveniles were walking the area when they were approached by a gray, newer model Dodge Challenger. The victims described the driver as, a white male, approximately 20 years of age, with curly blonde hair, a deep voice, and wearing a yellow shirt. The driver yelled, “We’re going to kidnap you!” as it drove past them. The vehicle made a U-turn and drove back in their direction at which point the juveniles ran to an adult that was standing outside of a vehicle nearby. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling North on Riva Road. Weapons Offense - Lothian
23-701702

On January 14, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation in the area of Mount Zion Marlboro Road and Bayard Road in Lothian. During their investigation, officers learned that the driver did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers located a chrome semi-automatic handgun. Officers learned that the driver was prohibited from possessing firearms. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.
