Western District
Fatal Crash – Harmans

On August 14, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to Aviation Boulevard and Dorsey Road in Harmans for a single vehicle crash.

A Nissan Sedan was traveling south on Aviation Boulevard approaching Dorsey Road. For an unknown reason, the Nissan left the roadway on the right side and struck a traffic signal pole in the gore area.

The driver of the Nissan, who was the single occupant, was transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.

This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Commercial Robbery (Strong Arm) - Brooklyn
22-725735 (Arrest Update)

On July 22, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers responded for a robbery at the 7-Eleven located at 5617 Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park. An unknown male suspect entered the store, lunged over the counter, assaulted the cashier, and took cash from the register. The suspect then fled the store. The victim did not report any injuries. Robbery detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-4720 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700. 

Suspect: Black male, short hair, beard

Update (August 15, 2022) - Through investigative means, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Alexander James Harvey Sr., 38, of Edgewood, Maryland. Harvey was taken into custody on August 10, 2022, and charged accordingly.

Carjacking - Brooklyn Park

On August 14, 2022, at approximately 1:40 a.m., officers responded for a carjacking at the Shoppers Express located at 714 Church Street in Brooklyn Park. The victim was parked in front of the business when two unknown suspects approached. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the vehicle, a 2018 Hyundai Sonata. The victim got out of the car, and the suspects fled east on Church Street. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Northern district detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135 or the Tip-Line at 410-222-4700.

Shooting (Contact) - Brooklyn Park

On August 14, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded for a shooting at a residence in the 300 block of Arundel Road W. in Brooklyn Park. An unknown male suspect entered the residence and fired a round, striking the 41-year-old male victim in an extremity. The suspect then fled. Officers rendered medical aid until the victim was transported by EMS personnel to an area hospital for treatment. Shooting (Contact) - Severna Park

On August 12, 2022, at approximately 10:10 a.m., officers responded for a shooting at a residence in the 600 block of Kensington Avenue in Severna Park. Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old female victim with an apparent gunshot wound to an extremity. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. During the course of their investigation, officers learned through witness statements and evidence obtained, that the victim and suspect were involved in a heated/physical altercation prior to the shooting, indicating the shooting was an intentional act. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Theft / Assault - Annapolis

On August 12, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a juvenile problem at the Westfield Annapolis Mall at 2002 Annapolis Mall in Annapolis. Upon arrival, officers learned that a group of seven juvenile males between the ages of 11-16 approached another group of three juvenile males. One suspect asked to “see” the victim's sunglasses; after handing the suspect the glasses, he, along with the other suspects, ran away with the glasses. The victim pursued the suspect, and the other juveniles that were with the suspect produced BB guns and began shooting at the victim. The victim was struck by several projectiles, suffering minor injuries. The parents of the victim were contacted and responded to the scene. Officers canvassed inside and outside the mall but did not locate the suspects. CDS Violation - Annapolis
22-728265

On August 12, 2022, at approximately 6:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation in the area of Aris T. Allen Boulevard and Solomons Island Road in Annapolis. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a digital scale and a clear plastic bag of suspected cocaine with an approximate weight of 15g. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged accordingly.
