Anne Arundel County Council to Hold Special Virtual Meeting on August 4, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.

Annapolis, Md (August 2, 2022) On August 4, 2022 at 4:30 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Council will meet via Zoom to determine if a petition to amend the Charter satisfies all of the requirements established by law relating to petitions that initiate a Charter amendment. The petition was filed on Friday, July 29, 2022 and asks that the question of establishing a public campaign financing system for candidates for Anne Arundel County Executive and County Council go to the voters of Anne Arundel County by appearing on the November 8, 2022 ballot. 

Under the County Charter, amendments to the Charter may be proposed by petition filed with the Chair of the County Council and must be signed by not less than 20% of the registered voters of the County, or at least 10,000 registered voters when 20% of the number of registered voters is greater than 10,000.
