Western District Traffic Enforcement Detail

Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section and officers from the four Police Districts conducted a high-intensity traffic enforcement detail during the morning hours in Western District, focusing on MD Route 100, MD Route 32, and MD Route 3.

Utilizing marked and unmarked cars for the three-and-a-half-hour detail, officers made 70 traffic stops, issuing 50 citations and 61 warnings for various offenses ranging from speeding, unsafe lane changes, cell phone usage, and move-over violations. This enforcement effort also included federally certified commercial vehicle inspectors who performed 7 commercial vehicle inspections. Four of the inspected commercial vehicles were placed out of service for safety violations. This enforcement is a continuation of directed enforcement patrols conducted on various county roadways due to crashes, aggressive driving, and speed complaints.

Additional enforcement will be conducted on various county roadways in an effort to deter aggressive driving, distracted driving, speeding, and violations of occupant protection laws. Citizens observing any vehicles operated in a careless or reckless manner are asked to contact the police department by calling 911 or the non-emergency number- 410 222-8610 when safe.

On April 13, 2022, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center for an injured subject who told hospital staff he was struck in the head with a handgun in the area of Meade Village three hours earlier. The victim said he was standing outside near a bus stop when a gray sedan pulled up close to him. Several males got out of the vehicle, some of them displaying handguns. The victim attempted to run away from the suspects, however, they caught up with him and struck him in the head with the guns. The victim was only able to describe the suspects as Black males. Citizen Robbery - Odenton

On April 14, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of Meade Village Circle in Odenton for a report of a robbery. A 15-year-old male was walking through to his girlfriend’s house when he was approached by several males who punched him and stole his personal property. One of the suspects displayed a handgun during the assault. The victim was able to flee to his girlfriend's house, where he called for help. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury and declined further treatment. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any of the suspects.
