Fire Boat Recovery- Pasadena

Description of Area: Chesapeake Bay waterway

Additional Information: AACoFD Boat #41 was recovered from the Chesapeake Bay throughout the day Saturday. Tow Boat U.S. facilitated the recovery. An Incident Review Team will be conducting the investigation into the cause of the sinking.

 

Dwelling Fire- Pasadena

Description of Structure/Property: Split foyer with an attached garage, single-family dwelling.

Injuries or Deaths: No injuries reported to occupants or responders

Estimated Dollar Loss: $20,000

Smoke Alarm Status: Installed in the home, not in the garage, no activation of the home smoke detectors.

Assisting Fire Departments: Not applicable

Preliminary Cause: Accidental, batteries (RC car batteries)

Additional Information: The home occupant was alerted to the fire after hearing a loud noise in the garage. She and her 15 month old child safely evacuated and called 911. First arriving firefighters reported a fire in the attached garage of the home. Firefighters brought the fire under control in 18 minutes.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit determined that the fire was accidental as a result of several remote control car batteries that were being charged in the garage.

The occupants reported the family dog was safely evacuated as well.
 

Mobile Home Fire- Harwood

Type of Incident: Mobile Home fire

Description of Structure/Property: Single story, double-wide mobile home.

Injuries or Deaths: No injuries reported to occupants or responders

Estimated Dollar Loss: $31,000

Smoke Alarm Status: No smoke detectors or alarm.

Assisting Fire Departments: Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department, Annapolis Fire Department and Calvert County Fire, Rescue and EMS.

Area of Origin: Exterior Front Porch

Preliminary Cause: Accidental, discarded smoking materials.

Additional Information: Firefighters responded to several 911 calls reporting a fire at a mobile home in Harwood on Sunday. First arriving firefighters reported a fire on the front porch that was beginning to extend into the attic. Firefighters brought the fire under control in 16 minutes.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit determined that the fire was accidental as a result of discarded smoking materials.

 One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate safely. The remaining occupants responded to the scene upon hearing of the fire. Red Cross is assisting the family.
