The Department of Aging and Disabilities Announces Caregiver Educational Workshops for November

Annapolis, MD ( October 20, 2021) - The Department of Aging and Disabilities is pleased to announce upcoming Caregiver Educational Workshops for November.

On November 3rd at 2:00 pm, Mary Chaput, Family Caregiver Support Program Director, will facilitate the Virtual Dementia Live Program. This is a virtual workshop and will be presented using the Zoom platform. The Virtual Dementia Live Program will also be presented in-person at the North County/Hein office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie) on November 15th at 6:30 pm. The Dementia Live workshop is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory changes. Space is limited. Please call 410-222-4375 or 410-222-4339 to register for either of the Dementia Live workshops.

On November 17th at 6:30pm, Ilyana Kadushin, Executive Director of Stories Love Music, Inc., will present Living “Stories Love Music.” Individuals with dementia feel disconnected from the world around them and may wonder “am I being seen and heard?” This can be true for caregivers, also. When we are isolated, we wonder if anyone wants to hear our stories. Music speaks to our hearts and our human experiences. We all have stories to tell and music brings it to light. This is a virtual workshop and will be presented using the Zoom platform. Registration may be completed online at http://www.aacounty.org/aging or by calling 410-222-4375 or 410-222-4339.

All workshops are presented at no cost to the public by the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.

Anyone needing accommodations must contact Mary Chaput at 410-222-4339, or by e-mail at agchap01@aacounty.org at least seven days in advance of the event. TTY users, please call via Maryland Relay 7-1-1. All materials are available in an alternative format upon request.
