Annapolis, MD (Oct. 15, 2021) - Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman issued the following statement regarding the State’s assistance on Tropical Storm Ida Recovery Efforts:
“Earlier today, Governor Hogan responded to my letter requesting a State of Emergency declaration for Tropical Storm Ida, to help us provide additional resources for our residents and businesses. While FEMA denied the State’s request for a major disaster declaration, the State and my team have continued to work closely to provide assistance for impacted communities.
In today’s letter, the Governor noted the State is continuing to advocate for federal assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration, which can make a physical disaster declaration. This would allow qualifying businesses and residents to apply for flexible, low-interest loans for repair and replacement of buildings and property.
The State is also making $4 million available through the State Department of Housing and Community Development. This money can be accessed through the Maryland Disaster Housing Assistance Program, the Maryland Disaster Relief Housing Program, and the Maryland Business Recovery Loan program, and can be used for home repair, short-term rental assistance, and business loans for impacted residents.
I want to thank Governor Hogan and his team for their continued partnership with Anne Arundel County and our agencies, to provide immediate and effective assistance for our residents and businesses affected by the storm.”
