Fatal Crash - Arnold

On October 7, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of northbound Ritchie Highway, near Arnold Road, for a crash.
The investigation revealed that a 2007 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Ritchie Highway approaching Arnold Road when the driver swerved into an adjacent lane to avoid another vehicle. The driver overcorrected her steering, causing the vehicle to overturn and strike several trees in the median. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department transported the driver to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Preliminarily, the primary cause of this crash is the driver failing to maintain a single lane. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Shots Fired - Glen Burnie

On October 7, 2021, at approximately 10:35 p.m. officers responded to Tall Pines Court and Elvaton Road in Glen Burnie for a report of gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival officers located a parked Acura sedan with a shattered driver’s side rear window and a bullet hole through the front windshield. Officers notified the owner who was unaware of the damage. Several shell casings were located in the area and a projectile was found lodged in a building loathed in the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court. A witness reported seeing two males dressed in dark clothing leave the area in a light-colored sedan. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
