On August 14, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a black BMW in the area of Ritchie Highway and Doris Avenue. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver opened the door to speak with the officer. The officer observed suspected marijuana and marijuana cigarettes within the vehicle. The investigation led to a search of the vehicle and occupants resulting in the seizure of 54.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 4.24 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, two suboxone strips, numerous pieces of CDS paraphernalia, and a loaded black 9mm polymer 80 “ghost gun”. All occupants were arrested and charged accordingly.

CDS Violation - Glen Burnie

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 11:55 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a maroon Toyota Rav4 in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and West Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and also observed two vials of suspected crack cocaine on the driver’s seat. A small amount of suspected crack cocaine was also located folded in a dollar bill in the center console. The driver was arrested and found to be in possession of 25 vials of suspected crack cocaine. He was charged accordingly.

On August 14, 2021, at approximately 1:50 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a silver Chevrolet Avalanche in the area of Brookwood Road and Ballman Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Upon speaking with the driver the officer observed suspected CDS paraphernalia within the vehicle. Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Fatal Crash - Millersville

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 9:40 pm, Eastern District officers responded to the McDonald's restaurant located at 680 Old Mill Road in Millersville for a crash involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian was observed collapsing in the McDonald's parking lot near the entrance/exit to Old Mill Road. A Lexus sedan made a right turn to exit the parking lot after leaving the drive-thru. The Lexus struck the pedestrian who was still lying face down in the parking lot. The pedestrian was dragged a short distance before the Lexus stopped.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics. The pedestrian was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.
Preliminarily, pedestrian error is believed to be the primary cause of this crash. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

On August 14, 2021, at approximately 6:05 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a green Lexus in the area of Laurel Fort Meade Road and Russett Green East in Laurel. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The investigation led to a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun located in the center console. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.
