Northern District
Shooting / Brooklyn Park

On May 3, 2021 at approximately 7:45 p.m. officers responded for a shooting at the Shop Express located at 714 Church Street in Brooklyn Park. The 17 year old male victim exited the store and was followed around the corner by two suspects. The victim then came back into the shop with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Officers spoke with witnesses who reported hearing a gunshot and seeing two suspects flee the area immediately after the shooting occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that this a targeted incident and not a random act of violence. Eastern District
Destruction (Gunshots) / Annapolis

On May 3, 2021 at approximately 10:48 p.m. Eastern District officers responded to the Village Inn located at 69 Old Mill Bottom Road in Annapolis for the report of a destruction to a vehicle. While officers were responding to the call more information was provided revealing gunshots heard in the area. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle with a shattered window and an empty handgun magazine on the ground outside of a room. Officers made contact with the resident of the room and found him to be in possession of loose handgun ammunition. Ammunition was also seen in plain view inside the room through the open door. Officers discovered the resident is prohibited from possessing ammunition and handguns. A search warrant was executed on the resident’s room and his vehicle which resulted in the seizure of a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun. The suspect was arrested and charged.

Western District
Weapons; CDS Violation / Severn

On May 4, 2021 at approximately 2:15 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of a Mitsubishi Outlander in the area of Reece road and Jacobs Road in Severn. Upon approaching the vehicle the officer observed suspected marijuana within the vehicle. As the officer began to investigate, the rear seat passenger fled but was quickly located by officers. That subject was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Polymer 80 handgun with a 40 round magazine, 2.49 grams of Ritalin, 5.78 grams of suspected Cocaine, 3.97 grams of suspected Heroin, 1.11 grams of suspected marijuana, $990.00 in currency, a scale, and paraphernalia consistent with the packaging of CDS. The subject was found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm and was arrested and charged. The driver and other passengers were released from the scene.
