Police Press Release - October 15, 2020

Commercial Robbery / Glen Burnie

On October 14, 2020 at approximately 6:20 p.m. officers responded for a robbery at the Medicine Shoppe located at 103 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. Two unknown suspects entered the business, implied they had handguns and demanded medications from the clerk.  The suspects then removed an undetermined type and amount of medication from behind the counter and fled.  A third suspect remained outside the store as a lookout during the robbery.  All three males then fled in a white Chevrolet Impala.  Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle or suspects.  No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Suspects: 

1) Black male, 20-30 years of age, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt

2) Black male, 20-30 years of age, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt

3) Black male, 20-30 years of age, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt

Weapons Violation / Glen Burnie

On October 14, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m. officers responded for a report of several individuals smoking CDS in a vehicle in the North Glen Park West parking lot located at 201 Olen Drive in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, a beige 2001 Toyota, which was occupied by four individuals. Officers approached the vehicle and noticed an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Investigation resulted in a search of the vehicle which resulted in the recovery of a loaded Stallard Arms Inc JS-9mm handgun, suspected marijuana, a digital scale and packaging material in a fanny pack belonging to a juvenile suspect. The juvenile suspect was charged accordingly.

Minority Youth Advisory Council

The Anne Arundel County Police Department announces the formation of our Minority Youth Advisory Council.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is hosting a Minority Youth Advisory Council to provoke direct and intentional conversations between Anne Arundel County students (age 14-18) with members of local law enforcement.

Each meeting will begin with Police-Youth dialogue rooted in restorative justice, allowing every participant to give voice to their feelings and concerns in a safe space with the support of the group. This will be followed by a town hall-style forum to address community concerns and needs. Officers will then assist in creating youth-led advocacy projects and recommendations based on identified needs.

Youth will be encouraged to research and discuss topics of interest to them, and they will receive information on things like restorative practices, trauma, substance abuse prevention, mental health, as well as other topics from guest speakers.
