Theft from Auto Spree / Annapolis

On September 23, 2020 at approximately 7:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of Huse Drive and Hillsmere Drive in Annapolis for multiple reports of theft from autos. Cash and personal property was taken from several unlocked vehicles. After reviewing video footage, officers were able to obtain a picture of the suspect who was later identified as a 16 year old juvenile from Annapolis. The suspect was located and charged.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash / Riva

On September 23, 2020 at approximately 3:20 p.m., a Kawasaki motorcycle was southbound on Riva Road, improperly passing a car at a high rate of speed. The Kawasaki was using the center turn lane illegally to pass. A Volkswagen Tiguan was making a left turn from eastbound Tarpon Road onto northbound Riva Road. The Kawasaki struck the Volkswagen in the left rear, resulting in the motorcycle driver being ejected from the motorcycle.
The driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured.
Preliminarily, the primary cause of the crash appears to be improper passing and exceeding the posted speed limit on the part of the Kawasaki. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation.

Critical Missing Person - Silver Alert / Odenton

Mr. Peter Leyh has been reported missing from Odenton on September 23, 2020. Peter was last seen leaving his residence in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton. Peter was last seen wearing a green jacket with a white shirt underneath, blue jeans and sandals. He is operating a red Chrysler Caravan with Oklahoma registration HZR338. Peter is 80 years old an in need of assistance. He has two dogs with him, a black German Shepherd named "Alix" and a white and gray Australian Cattle Dog named "Buster". The German Shepherd is missing one eye.
A Silver Alert has been issued. Anyone with information about Peter or his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
Update:
The family believes Peter may be in the Prince George's County, Maryland and Washington D.C. area.

On September 23, 2020 at approximately 7:30 a.m. officers responded for multiple reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue in Severn. Cash and personal items were stolen from four vehicles parked along Maryland avenue overnight. Officers collected video footage and obtained a suspect description. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
