Western District
Assault (Arrest)  / Gambrills

On September 16, 2020 at approximately 6:52 p.m. officers assigned to the Western District responded for an assault in the 1300 block of Defense Highway in Gambrills. Upon arrival, officers located the 25 year old male victim who had been struck by a vehicle. Investigation revealed that the driver had intentionally struck the victim with the vehicle, a burgundy 2006 Mercedes. and fled. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers located the suspect in the area of Hermitage Hills Drive and Defense Highway and took him into custody.

Solicitation of Child Pornography

On September 16, 2020 officers responded to an Anne Arundel County residence for a social media trolling cellphone App that solicits child pornography. Officers learned a five-year-old child had  several apps “Talking Angela”, “Talking Angela 2”, Talking Tom 2”, and “Talking Ben 2” on their cellphone.  The apps told the child to take naked pictures of themself  and siblings while in the bathtub. The app then told the child they would strangle the child if they didn’t comply.  The Anne Arundel County Police Department is urging parents to constantly monitor their children's online activity and use of social media. Please report any suspicious social applications to the police department.
 


Northern District
Attempted Carjacking / Glen Burnie

On September 16, 2020 at approximately 12:19 p.m. officers responded to the area of Ritchie Highway at Marley Station Road for a report of an armed subject with a gun. The victim advised he was returning to his vehicle parked on the side of the Chipotle restaurant located at 4 Mountain Road in Glen Burnie when he was approached by a white Ford Focus, occupied by two male subjects who each pointed guns at him and demanded his keys and currency. The victim entered his car and drove away.  The victim last saw the suspect vehicle traveling north on Ritchie Highway, however lost sight of it in the area of Norfolk Road. Northern district detectives are following up on leads and investigating digital evidence. Southern District
Weapons Offense / Davidsonville

On September 16, 2020 at approximately 5:25 p.m. officers from the Southern District responded to the area of Central Avenue and West Patuxent River Crossover in Davidsonville for a report of a single vehicle accident.  A black 2010 Ford Taurus drove across the oncoming traffic lane and left the roadway, striking a mailbox, picket fence and two trees. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A spring-assisted switchblade knife was found on the driver’s person. A loaded .22 caliber revolver was recovered from the vehicle. Upon release from the hospital, the driver was arrested and transported to central booking for processing.
