Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control Update (Effective May 16, 2020)

On May 13, 2020 Governor Hogan advised that he was lifting the stay at home requirement effective at 5 p.m. on Friday May 15, 2020 and that individual jurisdictions would have the ability to determine what is best for their area in accordance with the governor's order.  On May 14, 2020 County Executive Steuart Pittman said animal shelters are allowed to open in accordance with the state executive order.

For Animal Care & Control this means we will be open our normal business hours beginning Saturday,  May 16, 2020, when we will be open from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. However, we will be providing services at the building BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  We will be limiting the number of people with access to the building to those only necessary for the level/type of services being provided.  If it is determined that a person must enter the building for services to be rendered, they will have their temperature taken before entering and must wear a mask.

This is a difficult time for all of us, the community, our staff and our volunteers.  We are navigating uncharted waters and we ask for your patience as we try to do this in a manner that not only meets the needs of the community (people and animals) but also complies with the directives of the governor and county executive and continues to reduce the spread of COVID-19.   This means we will continue to keep the number of people in the building to a minimum and handle as many transactions virtually and/or outside as possible.

The normal shelter operation hours are 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Wednesday.  Shelter visitors must wear masks and follow social distancing protocols when at the facility, even outside.
