County Council Meeting - March 16: Updated Information 12:30 PM

The Anne Arundel County Council is very concerned about the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the health and safety of our residents and employees. Effective immediately, and in line with CDC recommendations to limit public attendance as well as executive orders issued by Governor Hogan, Council Chambers are hereby closed to the general public. The Council will convene briefly this evening to accomplish several important things:

  • We will introduce emergency legislation to extend the civil emergency period in Anne Arundel County declared by County Executive Pittman on March 13, 2020.
  • We will be briefed by our Health Officer, Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman.
  • We will not vote on any legislation this evening and will be postponing all public hearings on bills currently on agenda and schedules to allow the public to participate safely at another time.

All of this is being done to ensure the safety of everyone. Please remember, you can watch and listen to our meeting tonight on designated cable channels and via Arundel TV Live. On behalf of the County Council, I ask for patience and understanding as we work with State and County leaders to determine the most responsible way to proceed with the Council business in the coming weeks.
