Sexual Assault - Odenton
On Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at approximately 5:41 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Apple Blossom Lane, Odenton, Maryland for a burglary/sexual assault. The adult female victim was awoken to a male suspect assaulting her. The female victim was able to scream at which time the suspect exited the residence through a window.
Responding patrol officers and K-9 canvassed the area for the suspect but were met with negative results. The Sex Offense Unit along with the Evidence Collection Unit responded and processed the scene. Several detectives did a door to door canvass and also interviewed several witnesses. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately twenty five to thirty five years old, 5’10 with a medium build. The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light colored shirt and an orange head covering.

Western District
Commercial Robbery / Laurel
On August 27, 2019 at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded for an armed robbery at the Motel 6 located at 3510 Old Annapolis Road in Laurel. An unknown male suspect entered the hotel displayed a knife and demanded money from the register. The suspect removed currency from the register and fled on foot in an unknown direction. Officers searched the area however were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Suspect: Black male, thin build, wearing dark clothing.
Traffic Safety Section
Fatal Crash / Millersville
On August 27, 2019 at approximately 7:08 a.m., officers responded to Veterans Highway just north of Benfield Road in Millersville for a crash involving a motorcycle. A Honda motorcycle was traveling south on Veterans Highway approaching Benfield Road. A Chevrolet sedan was traveling north on Veterans Highway. The driver of the Chevrolet attempted to make a left turn into the Exxon station located at 8556 Veterans Highway. The motorcycle struck the Chevrolet in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured and remained on the scene.
Preliminarily, the primary cause of the crash was the driver of the Chevrolet failing to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle. Speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash. The States Attorney's Office will review the case upon completion of the investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
