Fatal (Pedestrian) Odenton
On February 20, 2019 at approximately 6:25 p.m., officers responded to Conway Road near Patuxent River Road in Odenton for a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
A Honda Odyssey van was traveling eastbound on Conway Road traveling towards Crain Highway (MD Rt 3). The driver of the van struck one of two pedestrians that were walking along the road’s edge. The pedestrians were walking in the eastbound lane as close to the edge a possible. The pedestrian that was struck was pronounced dead at the scene. The second pedestrian was uninjured. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and was uninjured.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the pedestrians walking in the roadway. Weather conditions were poor at the time and may have contributed as well. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
