When bridge construction is required as part of project development, State regulation requires the Department of Public Works perform a bridge inspection within 30 days of placing the constructed bridge in use and enter the bridge information into the State database. To help the County meet this requirement, the following information is required to be submitted to Inspections and Permits after the bridge construction completion but prior to its use:
- As-Built Plans for the constructed bridge with completed Construction Checklist, see below, including certifications and related documents
- As-Built Load Rating, see sections D-89-40(4) page 2, item V, and D-97-47(4) of the MDOT Guidelines and Procedures Memorandums.
- Scour Analysis, not required for box or pipe culverts
- Per the Anne Arundel County Design Manual Chapter 1; IV, Construction of the following materials are to be submitted to the County upon completion of bridge construction:
- Contract addenda
- Response to Requests for Information (RFI's)
- Record drawings showing all changed conditions and changes to the design
- Change directives
- Field modifications (those changes without formal change directives)
- Record set of shop drawings/certifications
- Inspector's daily log
- Material delivery tickets
- Construction photographs X. Electronic files in AutoCAD version 14.0 for all contract drawings
- Completed Structure Inventory and Appraisal Forms, see Documents below
Inspection and approval by the parties indicated is required at these points prior to proceeding with construction. The permittee is required to give the required inspection parties twenty-four (24) hours notice (I&P telephone 410-222-7000). The I&P inspector may waive an inspection, provided the design engineer and/or geotechnical engineer makes the required inspection per a prior scheduled arrangement which has been confirmed with the I&P inspector. Work completed without the necessary party's approval may result in permittee having to remove and reconstruct the unapproved work. The permittee must maintain a record set of approved plans on-site, and a copy of this completed checklist must be submitted with as-built documentation. Prior to fabrication and delivery, review and approval all shop drawings, material specifications and supplier certifications.

Notes
- For all pre-cast structures, a design certification from the manufacturer must be supplied to the design engineer and the county inspector prior to installation indicating that the structure was built in conformance with design plans.
- Permittee to supply design engineer with delivery tickets for all materials used in arch culvert, caisson and sheet pile construction.
- See construction specifications for detailed requirements.
- A copy of this completed inspection checklist must be submitted as part of the structure as-built package.
