Caregiving is a hard job—and all caregivers need a break at times. Respite care provides that break, whether it be an occasional night out or ongoing care while the caregiver attends his or her job. Respite care helps the caregiver— and the person they are caring for. When caregivers are rested and less stressed, they can provide better care.
In-home aides also provide companionship and support for older adults and adults with disabilities, assisting them to stay in their homes.
The Respite Care Referral Program (RCRP) maintains a registry of self-employed home care workers to provide these types of care. All Respite Workers undergo an application process, to include a criminal background check, the program’s orientation training, which include both the Dementia Live ® experience and ethical standards. Home Health Aides have also completed Maryland’s Certified Nursing Assistant training.
The Respite Care workers referred to you are self-employed, independent contractors in good standing on the Respite Care Referral Program.
Eligibility
To be eligible to become a respite care referral program worker you must be an Anne Arundel County resident; have a valid Maryland Driver's License; have personal vehicle.
