About the Program
Senior Center Plus is a structured, supervised socialization program for those older adults who may not be able to participate independently in the programs offered at the senior activity centers. This four hour, guided program is led by experienced staff who create a unique interaction for participants that focuses on the individual's strengths and interests to deliver a meaningful experience for each participant. Activities include cognitive, social, and physical recreational activities, adapted for older adults who need support in order to participate in senior activity center programs
To be eligible, individuals must have the ability to communicate their needs, eat, and use the restroom independently. Senior Center Plus is offered in select senior activity centers 10am-2pm and lunch is provided.
This program has a fee of $20 a day. Transportation to and from the Senior Center Plus Program is the responsibility of each participant.
Eligibility
There are eligibility requirements and a fee for the Program:
- Be a current resident of Anne Arundel County
- Be at least 55 years of age
- Be able to independently use the restroom
- Be able to independently feed yourself
- Be able to communicate needs to staff
Fees
This is a fee for service program with a cost of $20.00 per day.
How to Register
All potential participants receive a free evaluation from a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Social Worker from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health to determine qualification for this program as well as possibly qualifying for other programs offered at the Department of Aging and Disabilities.
