Honor/Color Guard Unit

In 2016, the AACDDF developed the Honor/Color Guard Unit. The Honor Guard consists of ten (10) members of AACDDF uniformed staff that is carefully screened for their ability and physical dexterity. Only those who are highly motivated, maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance and conduct and show aptitude for ceremonial duty are considered. The Honor Guard serves as ambassadors to the public, presenting a positive image of their service and assisting with the recruiting effort.

The Color Guard is a detail consisting of five (5) or six (6) individuals whose purpose is to guard and carry/post the National, State, County and Department flags at formal functions.

In order to be considered for the Honor/Color Guard Unit, applicants must be employed with the department for at least one (1) year. A direct recommendation from an immediate supervisor is also required.

Situations the Honor/Color Guard Unit may be utilized include but are not limited to: Funerals/Interments, Memorial Ceremonies, Parades, Recruiting, workshops, Awards ceremonies, County Celebrations, Formal Functions, Community events and Academy Graduation.
