Transportation Unit

The AACDDF Transportation Unit is a specialized unit responsible for statewide inmate transportation. The Transportation Unit has a fleet of 27 vehicles and on a yearly basis securely transports without incident more than 15,000 inmates totaling 140,000 miles. These transports include but are not limited to: transfers to and from other correctional facilities, court appearances, compassionate leave, administrative details, medical appointments, alternative sentencing placements and mental health evaluations. 

All members of the Transportation Unit are members of the Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.) and are required to have an excellent work and driving record. The Transportation Unit is required to maintain a high level of training and expertise and attend specialized training programs which include:
