Anne Arundel County’s Cultural Resources Section was awarded a Non-Capital Grant from the Maryland Historical Trust to undertake a study of the history and evolution of agricultural practices in the county from pre-historic times to the 20th century and to document extant farm buildings including, farmhouses, barns, and other agricultural buildings, as well as to collect oral histories from local farmers about their farm’s history and their experiences as famers.
The project will result in a thematic report that will be available to the public that covers the breadth of Anne Arundel County’s agricultural history and will include an architectural study of agricultural buildings. These resources are fast disappearing from the landscape. Please help us share and document this significant history before it’s too late!
