Annapolis, MD (September 14, 2023) - Falls are common, no matter your age. Unfortunately, an unexpected fall for an older adult can result in serious and costly injury. The good news is that most falls can be prevented. The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is committed to teaching older adults the tools of fall prevention. In recognition of Falls Prevention Awareness Week, the Department of Aging and Disabilities will be providing information and tools on how to reduce the risk of falls, a leading cause of serious injury and death among people over age 65.
“During this month, we urge everyone to take the necessary steps to make their homes and environments safe and secure,” said County Executive Pittman. “Join me in raising awareness as we work together to keep our loved ones safe.”

Providing county residents with information and resources empowers and enables them to live independent and meaningful lives. And this is a cornerstone of our overall mission,” said Karrisa Kelly, Director of the Department of Aging and Disabilities.
