About the Office of Information Technology

Our mission is to provide the right tools, technologies, and data to the right people at the right time in the right place. 

To do this we need to be coherent, trusted, informed, and driven to provide great services to our customers.

Cable Communications

• The Cable Communication Division is responsible for the regulation of Cable Television, Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) and the management of construction projects for all aspects of County Government and the Board of Education.

Cybersecurity

• The Cybersecurity team is responsible for implementing an effective, County-wide information security program that involves the management of information and information system risks. Responsibilities include: developing OIT security policies and standards, ensuring security requirements, including necessary security controls, are integrated into the County's enterprise architecture and system development life cycle processes, and aligning information system-related security risks with the County's mission objectives and overall risk strategy.

Enterprise Services

• Enterprise Services is responsible for the maintenance and new development of computer applications for County agencies. Responsibilities include: designing, implementing and updating the citizen facing County website, maintaining the County's Intranet, creating web applications for external/internal use, and developing interfaces with custom applications used by departments to service County needs. 
• The Geographic Information Services group is part of Enterprise Services and is responsible for the standardization, coordination, and dissemination of geographic information. Staff responsibilities also include GIS software maintenance, enterprise data viewing tools, major spatial data acquisition, and geospatial system automation projects.

Network

• The Network team is responsible for administration of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).

Project Management Organization (PMO)

• OIT's Project Management organization was established to provide experienced project management assistance to the OIT team and other departments seeking to implement technology related projects. The PMO manages portfolios of projects that are categorized by their core area. These core areas are:
  • Enterprise Applications (those used across the County by several department's/agencies)
  • Public Safety (Police, Fire, Detention, Sheriff, State's Attorney) 
  • Land Use (Inspections & Permits, Public Works, Planning & Zoning) 
  • Network & Security

Technical Services

• Technical Services is responsible for providing access to the County’s shared electronic data. System administration is provided for a variety of departmental and enterprise servers, E911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system administration, and EnterpriseOne system administration. In addition to system administration tasks, the division procures the necessary hardware and software for these systems, coordinates vendor support and maintenance, provide technical guidance to the other groups within OIT and provide technical support on server and network issues to user departments during project planning. 
• The Help Center team is a part of Technical Services and provides technical assistance involving supporting countywide end-user support. This includes resolving issues, completing work orders, installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktops, and laptops and working on help-desk tickets.

Telecommunications & PEG Studio

• Telecommunications is responsible for managing all aspects of communications throughout Anne Arundel County including land lines, cellular service and the 800 MHz project. 
• PEG studio serves as the county's public access and government access facility. AACTV is Anne Arundel County’s non-commercial cable access facility. Its purpose is to facilitate, promote, and develop community programming of benefit or interest to the citizens of Anne Arundel County
